The set up for the 4th Annual Bay Harvestfest in North Beach has begun. Vendors were out early this morning setting up for the festival. Craft booths and food vendors line Atlantic Avenue and over looks the bay. There is a little bit of something for everyone with a moon bounce for the little ones, music at the pavilion and even pig and duck races. Yes that's right there will be pig and duck races being held.
The Southern Maryland Barnyard Runners were setting up this morning. The racers in the trailer were squealing with excitement for the big races. The races are at 1, 3 and 5pm.
The festival runs from Noon to 6pm.

When you think of boating on the Chesapeake Bay do you think of Sailboats? Or maybe fishing boats? Chances are you have never thought of Dragon Boats. It’s one of the fastest growing team water sports in the world. This weekend the brightly colored boats will take over North Beach in an effort to combat hunger.
Thesecond annual Dragon Boat Race Festival raises money for End Hunger in CalvertCounty. Each boat agrees to raise $2,000 for the chance to win. This year 34 boats with 16 paddlers and one drummer will compete to paddle across the finish line. Each race covers 200 meters and will take less than two minutes. The boats will compete in two races and the boats with the fastest times will go to the finals.
The festival kicks off June 20th during the Friday night farmers market with the Dotting of the Eye Ceremony. Race day (June 21st) starts at 8:30a with opening ceremonies. There will also be entertainment, a kids zone, local craft vendors and food from the local dining hotspots.
EndHunger in Calvert County distributed over 1 million pounds of food last year. They distribute food to 11 partner food pantries who feed more than 700 families a week.
